The Fledgling Fund has generously awarded us a seed grant to build Beyond Seneca Falls, a web portal which will give the film's audience a safe place to go next - a forum to address the remaining inequities in today's world on a peer-to-peer social networking site. Beyond will be an oasis of encouragement, inspiration, and ideas for girls and women (and their supporters) inclined toward action and leadership. Simply put, it's a place that will envision and support a world beyond barriers of gender, race and economic inequities.

Leveraging the worldwide web with Beyond, the opportunities for cross-cultural exchange are boundless. In the western world, there is a core belief that being strong is somehow the antithesis of being feminine. What do other cultures think? How do they treat females? How can less developed nations and more developed nations inform each other's struggles, and assist in meeting each other's challenges? The Beyond project asks people to think beyond current limitations, asking ordinary citizens to help shape more gender-balanced, fair, and free societies.

The site is currently in development with a planned launch in mid-November 2009. We would love your suggestions for topics to explore, guest bloggers, resources and links. We're also seeking college or high school classes that would like to serve as web producers/administrators on a revolving basis. And, as always, we'll need ongoing financial support to keep exploring Beyond the perceived and real barriers still facing the female half of the global population.
