We
are thrilled to report that Seneca Falls will have its broadcast
premiere on PBS in March 2010! The film will
be jointly presented to PBS stations nationally by KRCB-TV
in Northern California, home of the cast and filmmakers, and
WXXI-TV in Rochester, NY, home of many of the early women's
rights movement's historic sites. The film is being offered
to stations for a March 2010 Women's History Month special.
We
need your support with this grassroots launch! There are many
ways you can be a part of this effort.

The
film is completed – at last!
We
are beyond pleased to announce the completion of our documentary
film, Seneca Falls! The film has required a journey of more
than a decade, marked by dedication, many helping hands, hard
lessons learned, and above all, perseverance. Sounds a lot
like the women’s movement itself!
Since
our fundraising event at
the Brava Theater SWAN Day benefit last March, our “angel”
edit facility, Phoenix Editorial, has continued to support
us in every way. We were also graced with the extraordinary
generosity of Patrick Fitzgerald, Senior Audio Engineer at
Polarity Post, who stepped in after a mystery hum appeared
throughout the film’s soundtrack, stopping us in our
tracks last fall. After Louise replaced every single piece
of sound in the film from the original source tapes over three
months, Patrick took on the project (during down time from
other projects), and did an absolutely masterful job at sound
editing and mixing. Tremendous, heartfelt thanks to Patrick
Fitzgerald.
Composer Mark
Orton of Tin Hat worked with Louise for four
months last fall, creating a fantastic original score. Mark
is an extraordinary musician with a worldwide following. Guest
vocalists – including the amazing Carla Kihlstedt –
enhance his beautiful compositions. (BTW, Mark is a joy to
work with and an all-around great human being!)
The
Seneca Falls DVD is now available for purchase
--for home use (have a house party!), schools, libraries,
museums, organizations, institutions and colleges.
To
quote filmmaker John Sayles, “First you have the
baby, then you raise the baby.” Let the upbringing
begin...
BEYOND
Seneca Falls wins outreach grant from The Fledgling Fund!
We
are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous
seed grant from The Fledgling Fund in New York to build a
web portal called BEYOND Seneca Falls. Currently in development
with an anticipated launch in November, 2009, BEYOND will
be an online meeting place where viewers can go to discuss
the film, delve deeper, share their own news and projects,
and expand their vision of a world beyond gender barriers.
We
envision BEYOND becoming a global forum – a safe and
supportive place where women, girls and their supporters can
share stories and ideas, get inspired, and connect. Stay tuned
for more info!
