BRAVA SWAN DAY BENEFIT A HUGE SUCCESS!

On March 29, 2008, we screened the fine cut of our work-in-progress at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco as part of the first ever SWAN DAY - Support Women Artists Now – a new holiday honoring women artists around the world. SWAN Day was created by The Fund for Women Artists, which generously sponsored our event at the Brava and made the entire evening possible. Thank you Martha Richards, Co-Creator of SWAN Day, for your incredible support!

Catalina Castillo, Louise Vance and the cast of Seneca Falls took to the stage after the film.

It was a spectacular night. Our Ms.Tress of Ceremonies, the amazing singer/songwriter Deborah Pardes (www.mentlmusic.com) set the tone with her hilarious musical rendition of the Mayor’s Proclamation of SWAN Day. Martha Richards then told us about the more than 160 events going on worldwide in celebration of SWAN Day. And filmmaker Louise Vance welcomed the crowd and gave the audience an idea of the tremendous efforts of many people in working towards the completion of this project.

Seven of the nine young women from WOWER Power and two of the adult women in the film, came to the screening and spoke on stage after the film. These are remarkable young women, doing remarkable things with their lives.Four are entrepreneurs, one is in law school - another's getting a doctorate in educational psychology, one is breaking the gender barrier in the construction trades in downtown San Francisco, another's an artist pursuing an MFA, and several are pursuing photojournalism careers. To say they blew all of us away is an understatement!

Sumptuous dessert, wine and cheese reception, all donated by supporters

After screening the film, line producer Catalina Castillo took the stage along with cast members and the filmmaker. We are absolutely thrilled to report that thanks to the generosity of the community created around the film that evening, we surpassed our fundraising goal of $10K which allowed us to move forward and commission an original score.

Once again, thank you all for an incredible evening. Together, we can make a huge difference for all Americans who need to know the courage, the vision and the fortitude of the women of Seneca Falls.
